The Institute of Ecology and Regional Studies (ERS.institute) is an association of scientists from the fields of zoology, geography, geology, forestry, botany, hydrology, agriculture, veterinary medicine, construction and history. Since 2015, the Institute of Ecology and Regional Studies is an independent non-profit organization (NGO). The ERS Institute is funded with the proceeds of the excursions and the support of research projects.
The aim of the institute is nature conservation, environmental education and research in the named departments.
The German name of the Institute is Institut für Ökologie und Landeskunde, Bishkek.
